Connect Everything

Now that you have your ISDN line, your TA, and an account with GIGANET, let's connect everything and get going.

Please select your computer and TA configuration:

External TA with a Desktop Computer

Here is how you connect everything:

  1. The INS 64 line should come with a standard wall-mounted phone jack. The DSU connects to the wall jack using standard (RJ11) phone connectors.

Note: If you have an NEC ATerm or other TA with an internal DSU, you connect the INS 64 line directly into the TA on the (RJ11) connector labelled "LINE".

  2. The DSU connects to the external TA using a wide "Ethernet-style" connector (RJ45) on both ends.

  3. The external TA connects to your desktop computer using the appropriate serial (modem) cable. This is exactly the same as connecting an external modem.

Note: Check the manual that came with the external TA and use the appropriate AT command (modem init string) for 64K PPP access. Do NOT use the setting for asynchronous 38.4K access, as this will NOT work.

Also, if you are not using a GIGANET-approved model, be sure that your TA supports synchronous 64K <-> asynchronous 57.6K conversion. If it does not, it will NOT work.

You're Done! Enjoy the speed!
